Getting Crafty – Free Kindle eBooks for 04/10/2015

Summer is closing in faster that I’d like to think. Didn’t Spring just start a couple weeks ago? The start of Spring brings a change in our kids’ sports, and we spend a lot more time in outside in the completely unpredictable Kansas weather. Rarely, a sporting event gets canceled before it begins. That’s exactly what happened last week. I was supposed to be cheering at a track meet, but weather forced a rescheduling of the meet…and provided me with a few hours that I hadn’t planned on having to myself. During that time, I didn’t fritter it away eating chocolates and drinking soft drinks…nope I went hunting on Amazon for some activities and projects to keep our younger kids busy. I hit the jackpot with six books of crafts all targeted at beginners. Of course, the best part is all the books were Free!

As I was researching those books, one of my older daughters saw the books and said it would be interesting if there were some things that she could do with the younger kids. I asked her what might be fun and she said homemade beauty products would be great…so I headed off to Amazon to see what I could find. I had no idea that homemade shampoo, body scrubs, and perfume were such a big deal. I was extremely pleased that I found ten books in that realm. I’m hoping to have a review of some of these later when the kids have had a chance to try some of the recipes. At first glance all of these books look great.

There was also some talk about sewing and similar crafts. I was even more surprised at the number of books that I was able to find. In fact, I culled the list down to the 12 below covering sewing, crochet, and knitting from a list of nearly 100! All of these books are targeted at beginners. As a rank amateur, I figured I was a pretty good judge of what was too advanced. Hopefully one or more of these books will appeal to the budding seamstress or tailor in your family!

Since all these books come from Amazon, they require a Kindle reader. If you don’t have one of the excellent Kindle hardware products, you can download the Kindle e-reader software for just about any computer, tablet, or smartphone out there.

Please note, these books were free at the time of this post, but Amazon can change their prices at any time. Please be sure to verify the cost of the books before you buy so you don’t get hit with sticker shock.

While I use the free Kindle e-reader software on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone (dang, I sound like an Apple commercial!), half the members of the Hectic Household have Kindles. We have regular discussion over which platform is better and why. I can truly say that the Kindle owners love their devices. If you’re looking to buy a Kindle, there are some great deals on Kindle E-readers at Amazon right now!

Note that this post contains affiliate links. We don’t get much of a commission when you buy things through our link, but we get a little bit. You don’t pay any more, but Amazon shares a bit of their profit with us. Every little bit helps to fund the Hectic online ventures. We appreciate you using the links, we really do! Of course, when the books are free…you pay nothing, so don’t hesitate to click on one or more of the books and grab what interests you.
