Life\u2019s weird, isn\u2019t it?
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At one point you\u2019re rocking along, following a given path, things are going smoothly. You\u2019ve got things figured out, you know what to do, and there aren\u2019t a lot of bumps in the road. Then all of the sudden everything turns to crap, everything you thought you knew evaporates, and you\u2019re stuck wondering what the heck is going on.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blogging is a microcosm of that.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For years I was doing really well with this blog. I was writing on a regular basis. I knew how to get things done. And I was really enjoying myself. Sure, I didn\u2019t have a whole lot of readers, but I had enough that it still seemed worthwhile. And I\u2019d made some really great online friends. You know, the kind you\u2019ve never met in person but\u00a0just know<\/em>\u00a0that they\u2019re kindred spirits. If it hadn\u2019t been for this blog I never would\u2019ve met my friend Andrew. Quite honestly, I\u2019m sure my life would be dramatically different if I hadn\u2019t. He\u2019s been an awesome sounding board for several years now.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But life had a few curveballs up its sleeve. And I thought I had a different path to follow. So I tightened my belt and started off on that new path. I never planned on\u00a0blog fading<\/em>\u00a0here, I was just going to add a\u00a0little bit<\/em>\u00a0to my plate and keep writing this blog while pursuing those other options. Most of that work went into the products and services at Hectic-Kitchen<\/a>. But there were other things happening too. Things that I couldn\u2019t really foresee\u2026no matter how intently I stared into my crystal ball.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It happened slowly at first. So slowly that I didn\u2019t really notice. Essentially, I didn\u2019t have the energy to do all the things I was trying to do\u2026and this blog was the item that took the hit. I\u2019d post late some weeks. Occasionally I missed a post. But in my mind, I wasn\u2019t stopping\u2026things were just\u00a0crazy<\/em>. But that\u2019s part of the Hectic<\/em> brand\u2026life is like that sometimes, you just have to go with the flow. So I started going with the flow. But the struggle became more and more difficult.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something had to give\u2026and it ended up being the Hectic-Dad blog.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For months I felt guilty about it. I felt that I\u2019d let my readers down. All those great people who\u2019d been so kind to me on the internet were being abandoned\u2026and it made me feel awful. I kept moving forward with my other pursuits, but I had this lingering feeling as each week passed that I was failing somebody out there.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I had renewed energy and in February 2017 after a lot of planning and introspection, I decided it was time to relaunch my efforts towards the blog. I even wrote a post about it:\u00a0I Fell Off The Wagon<\/a>.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was gung ho. I was making a fresh start. Things would be different\u2026my goals were set and my sights were clear. I knew what I could accomplish and I set out to do it.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I failed big-time.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How big? I didn\u2019t post another thing on the blog until Christmas 2018!
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Since then I\u2019m been battling with\u00a0exactly<\/em>\u00a0how I want to attack 2019. I don\u2019t want to leave everybody hanging. But I don\u2019t want to overcommit. So I\u2019ve got one heel on the\u00a0don\u2019t over-commit<\/em>\u00a0box on my left, and the other heel on the\u00a0don\u2019t under-perform<\/em>\u00a0box on my right\u2026and they\u2019re slowly slipping away from each other. Right now I feel like I\u2019m doing the splits\u2026and the boxes are still moving. It\u2019s not really comfortable\u2026but it\u2019s life.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know\u2026I\u2019ve got metaphors and similes out the wazoo\u2026but you get the idea.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m struggling with how I want to move forward without trying to do too much. And still be\u00a0successful<\/em>\u2026whatever that really means.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gah\u2026this is totally crazy.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I know one thing\u2026I\u2019ve been writing every week day since January 8th when I decided that part of what I had to do was write more. And I\u2019ve written a lot. As of earlier today I\u2019ve written 57,902 words in 28:19 hours of writing. It\u2019s still not nearly enough for what I want to accomplish\u2026but it\u2019s an awesome start. And as I write more, I have more ideas. My\u00a0Evernote<\/em>\u00a0idea notebook has so much in it right now\u2026it\u2019s ridiculous.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

So the upshot is that I\u2019m on the verge of something big. Unfortunately, I\u2019m not exactly sure what that\u00a0something<\/em>\u00a0is. I\u2019m not certain what I\u2019m going to do with all those words. I\u2019m not sure when you\u2019re going to start seeing them. And I don\u2019t even know what form they\u2019re going to be in. But I do know that I need to keep vomiting them onto the page (sorry about that image). The words need to keep flowing so that the words backed up behind them can get out. Then I\u2019ll work on crafting them into something that makes sense to show to the world.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, I keep going back to that post when about\u00a0how I fell off the wagon<\/a>\u2026and I\u2019m watching the video list at the end. It\u2019s surprisingly motivational. And it\u2019s kind of fun. I keep playing those videos and reading the explanations of why I picked those particular songs, and it\u2019s speaking to me again. Nearly two years down the road from when I wrote them originally.

The only thing that\u2019s different this time around is that I know I\u2019m back on the wagon this time. I\u2019ve got lots and lots of words to prove that\u2026I just need to figure out how to use them.
